Feature Story

Our diocese was born alongside our nation, founded by many of the same people who shaped the early republic. For 250 conventions since, the faithful of this diocese have gathered to pray, discern, and do the work God sets before us.

This year, under the theme Generation to Generation, we give thanks for those who came before us: clergy and lay leaders, congregations large and small, and countless ordinary saints whose faithfulness is the ground on which we stand. But a heritage is meant to be handed on.

As we celebrate the goodness of our past, we ask how to carry it forward, holding fast to what is life-giving and preparing the way for those who will gather here in the next 250 years, trusting the God whose mercy is from generation to generation (Luke 1:50).

What is Convention? It is our annual gathering of clergy and lay representatives from across the Diocese to worship together, conduct our diocesan business, make decisions about our shared ministry, and spend time in fellowship.

Where and When is Convention? Convention will take place at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, on November 13–14.

How do I attend? All are welcome at convention. For the most current convention information, you should visit our Convention Website. On the website you can register, find important forms and resources, and book your hotel room. The full agenda and additional details will be shared in the Calendar of Business on October 14th. The registration deadline for guaranteed seating and hotel booking is October 22nd.

Certificate of Lay Delegates

If you are a voting lay member of convention, you’ll need to be certified by your congregation. The Certificate of Lay Delegates is available on the website and should be submitted well before convention.
