Feature Story

In this Year of Renewal, many congregations in EDNY are preparing for and holding their Congregational Annual Meetings in January and February. This is an important part of participating in the representative democracy that is the polity of the Episcopal Church.

Annual Meetings are a great opportunity to vote for new vestry members and delegates to convention, and to celebrate the accomplishments of the year that has just passed. We are releasing a new Best Practices and Guidelines for Annual Meetings (click here) to help in the planning of this year’s meeting and future meetings.

If you have already had your annual meeting, that’s okay! You can look over the guidelines, and they will still be in place next year. If you are currently planning an Annual Meeting we hope this will be helpful. We continue to work on additional resources to support good Annual Meeting practices.

We also welcome you to send photos from your annual meetings so we can share them on Diocesan social media – you can send photos with any photographer credits to lbreidenthal@dioceseny.org

If you have questions please contact Canon Alissa Newton at anewton@dioceseny.org

If you would like to recognize someone in your congregation at your annual meeting with a certificate from Bishop Heyd, contact Arlene Bullard at abullard@dioceseny.org
