Feature Story

On Labor Day, the Episcopal Diocese of New York launched a new diocesan website, a new digital home designed to connect resources to our 190 parishes, schools, and chaplaincies, and to share our story with the world.

The new website was designed with our parishes, schools, and chaplaincies at the center.

It is meant to make resources easier to find, stories easier to share, and connections easier to build. With intuitive navigation, a robust resource library, and a design that works beautifully on any device, the site reflects our commitment to equipping and supporting the extraordinary ministry happening across the Diocese.

Our website is one way we connect resources to our local communities and share our story with the world,” said the Rt. Rev. Matthew Heyd, Bishop of New York.

Elaine Delgado, Director of Advancement & Community Connections, directed the launch in partnership with Landslide Creative. This Nashville-based, woman-owned firm specializes in websites for mission-driven organizations.

Elaine convened a Website Advisory Committee as a sounding board for the project: the Rev. Nicole Hanley, the Rev. Chris Lee, Melina Smith, Roberta Todd, and the Rev. Anne Marie Witchger. Their thoughtful insights and feedback were instrumental in shaping a site that genuinely serves the needs and spirit of the Diocese. Special thanks also go to the Rev. Dr. Holly Bonner, who provided invaluable advice and feedback on accessibility, helping to ensure that the website is welcoming and usable for all, and to the Rev. Dr. Patrick S. Cheng, Chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of New York, for drafting the website’s Privacy Policy.

A special thanks is due to the photographers whose images make the site come alive, including Angela James, Kara Flannery, Destiny Mata, and many others. Their work helps us tell the story of our Diocese in all its richness, beauty, and diversity.

Website redevelopment is one piece of our broader communications strategy, which also includes more focused email, more active social media, stronger storytelling, and greater engagement with external media.

Thanks to Elaine for her leadership,” Bishop Heyd added. “This is an important step in sharing resources with our local communities and our story with the world.”
