LGBTQ+ Concerns

The Diocesan Committee on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ+) Concerns is a ministry of the Social Concerns Commission of the Diocese of New York.

Mission Statement

The Diocesan Committee on LGBTQ+ Concerns promotes the visibility, equality, and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning Episcopalians and their families across the Diocese of New York.

What We Do

The Committee:

  • Serves as a clearinghouse for ministries, services, and events supporting LGBTQ+ individuals throughout the diocese
  • Collaborates with partner organizations such as Integrity New York, CFLAG (Clergy Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), and the Interfaith Task Force for LGBTQ Youth
  • Promotes social witness and visibility for the lived experiences and needs of LGBTQ+ Episcopalians
  • Identifies and supports welcoming parishes, and encourages others to engage in the process of becoming inclusive faith communities
  • Advocates for policies and practices that advance equality and full inclusion in the Diocese, the Episcopal Church, and society
