The Rt. Rev. Matthew F. Heyd Consecrated Bishop Coadjutor

Before a congregation of more than 2,000 in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Manhattan, Matthew F. Heyd was ordained and consecrated May 20 as the Bishop Coadjutor of the Diocese of New York. The theme of the service was “Many Threads, One Fabric” – referring to the great diversity of the diocese. Bishop Heyd has declared that his focus for the coming year, during which he will serve alongside the current bishop, the Rt. Rev. Andrew ML Dietsche, will be the continuation and strengthening of the movements towards Reparations for slavery, economic justice, and creating care that have grown strong under Bishop Dietsche’s oversight.
