Lecture: Samuel Seabury and the Other Separation of Church and State

Join us at The Church of St. Andrew (40 Old Mill Road, Staten Island) for a lecture by Dr. Brent S. Sirota, Associate Professor of History at North Carolina State University, for a lecture focusing on Samuel Seabury and the Other Separation of Church and State.  Dr. Sirota’s work focuses on the intersections of religious and political history in Great Britain and the British world.  He received his PhD from the University of Chicago.  In addition to numerous articles, Dr. Sirota is the author of The Christian Monitors: The Church of England and the Age of Benevolence 1680-1790 (Yale University Press, 2014), which was awarded the John Ben Snow prize by the North American Conference on British Studies.  He is currently working on a study of church-state relations in the 18th and 19th centuries entitled Things Set Apart: Ecclesiologies of the Revolutionary Atlantic, 1688-1848.
