Choral Eucharist, Imposition of Ashes, Allegri Miserere

Wed, February 26, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The first day of Lent, Ash Wednesday, is marked by the imposition of ashes on the forehead and the call to repentance. The famous Miserere Mei Deus of Gregorio Allegri (1582-1652), with its soaring upper voice-line, reaching high C, is sung by St John’s Choir with guest soprano soloist Amber Evans. The ordinary of the mass is the plainsong Missa Orbis Factor. Those of all faiths and of none are welcome to this Choral Eucharist graced with hauntingly beautiful music.
