Bishop-Elect Heyd Receives Required Canonical Consents
The following announcement, in English and Spanish,
was released on Friday, January 27 by the Office of Public Affairs of the Episcopal Church.
Diocese of New York notified of
successful canonical consent process for next bishop
The Episcopal Diocese of New York has received notification from Presiding Bishop and Primate Michael B. Curry that Bishop-elect Matthew Foster Heyd has received the required majority of consents in the canonical consent process detailed in Canon III.11.3. The consents received have been certified by the Rev. Canon Michael Barlowe, registrar of the General Convention.
In giving consent to his ordination and consecration, standing committees and bishops exercising jurisdiction in The Episcopal Church attest to knowing of “no impediment on account of which” Bishop-elect Heyd ought not to be ordained as bishop, and that his election was conducted in accordance with the canons.
Heyd was elected bishop coadjutor on Dec. 3. His consecration and ordination service is scheduled for May 20.

La Diócesis Episcopal de Nueva York recibió la notificación del Obispo Presidente y Primado Michael B. Curry que el Obispo electo Matthew Foster Heyd obtuvo la mayoría requerida de consentimientos en el proceso de consentimiento canónico detallado en el Canon III.11.3.
